Special COVID-19 Meeting

Guard Bryan Anthony led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Treasurer Bernie Costanza presented Georgeann Maguire with the Sam Sica Person of the Year Award. Please see attached photo and accolades written by member Joan Rottman. The recent past five award recipients form a committee to select the award.
Treasurer’s Report. Bernie Costanza reported balances as follows:
Deposits totaled $1785 and disbursements totaled $775.84.
President George Lapore will provide a copy of the 2021 budget to anyone who wants a copy.
Financial Secretary Tony Bianchi reported that the lodge received 85 membership renewals to date. He will hard mail the remaining members who have not renewed membership for 2021.
Present members voted to accept two new members, Cristina Marcellus and Isabelle Meredith.
President George Lapore announced that the Sons of Italy Foundation is accepting scholarship applications. Scholarships are open members’ children and grandchildren.
Applications are due March 30, 2021. – Contact any lodge officer for more information.
The state collects $3 per person from local lodges. The state chairman asked local lodges for donations to the scholarship fund. OSIA gift cards can be used as a gift donation to the charity/education fund.
Officer nominations. The president, recording secretary, and historian/ website positions are available. Does the lodge want a social justice representative? Theresa Mingarell motioned that the social justice representative be a trustee. Chris Rottman offered that the social justice representative does not need to be a trustee. No action taken.
Historian Tamara Heagy offered to create a job description for historian, instructions for loading news items to the website and Facebook, uploading photos to gmail archives. She asked if the lodge would bear the cost of outsourcing scanning of historical documents.
Theresa Mingarell discussed the pasta-making demonstration via zoom on December 15. The lodge would like to continue cooking demonstrations.
Lydia Johnson reported that the LaBafana zoom event that was held January 3. Twenty children participated.
Theresa Mingarell led a game inspired by the LaBafana scavenger hunt. Brandy Ingargiola won a Lodge #2651 apron by having the most Italian ingredients in her kitchen.
Chris Rottman motioned to adjourn the meeting.
Tamara Heagy seconded the motion.
